Tech Titans Overtake Luxury Mogul as Arnault Drops Out of World’s Top Ten

Bernard Arnault’s fortune fell to $143 billion, pushing him out of the global top-10 richest list, now dominated by American tech billionaires.

Bernard Arnault’s wealth dropped to $143 billion, removing him from the top-10 richest individuals worldwide. His fortune shrank by $65 billion, the steepest loss among the 500 richest, and he fell below Warren Buffett, the 96-year-old Berkshire Hathaway chairman. The top ten is now composed entirely of Americans, led by Elon Musk’s $918.8 billion fortune and followed by tech entrepreneurs such as Larry Page, Jeff Bezos, Sergey Brin and Michael Dell.

The decline is linked to reduced demand for LVMH products in key markets like Dubai and China, where a trademark fight with a local tea maker and the West Asia war have dampened sales. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 has risen 11 percent this year, driven by AI-related tech gains. LVMH shares edged up slightly in early Paris trading, and succession concerns persist as Arnault’s five children, all employed by the group, avoided questions about future leadership.

Why it matters

The shift highlights how geopolitical tensions and market trends can rapidly alter the hierarchy of global wealth.
