Ted Lasso Season 4 Sets Apple TV Record with 296.6 Million Minutes Watched
Season 4 of Ted Lasso logged 296.6 million minutes of viewing on August 4-5, establishing the highest-ever Apple TV premiere.
Apple TV reported that the debut of Ted Lasso’s fourth season generated 296.6 million minutes of streaming between August 4 and 5, the highest opening for any Apple TV series and surpassing earlier seasons and other flagship titles like Severance. The season dramatically reshuffles the ensemble, keeping only a few original players while introducing a women’s soccer team led by Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis. Core cast members Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift and Brett Goldstein continue in their roles.
Apple executive Eddy Cue said the viewership figures are “good enough” to consider further seasons, and the main actors have reportedly secured a three-year contract that could cover additional installments. Only two of the ten episodes have aired so far, with the season slated to conclude on October 7, 2026.
Why it matters
The record viewership highlights the series' strong audience appeal and may shape Apple’s future content strategy.
