Teen allegedly stabs father after requesting a hug, police say
Police say an 18-year-old son stabbed his father in the neck after asking for a hug, leaving the father wounded.
Law enforcement officials stated that an 18-year-old male told his father he was struggling with suicidal thoughts prior to the attack. After stepping away briefly, the son returned and asked for a hug, at which point he allegedly brandished a knife and stabbed his father in the neck. The victim described feeling a blow to his throat and immediately pressing his hand to the wound while retreating. He sought help at a nearby residence and dialed 911. Investigators subsequently apprehended the suspect, charging him with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
