Teen arrested after reckless U-Haul stunt damages San Diego streets
An 18-year-old was taken into custody in San Diego after police say he performed dangerous driving stunts in a rented U-Haul, causing thousands of dollars in street damage.
Police in San Diego posted video evidence of an 18-year-old and a passenger conducting high-speed stunts in a rented U-Haul pickup, including a run through an intersection that was recorded for social media. A separate clip shows the teen driving a white sedan in a hazardous lane-changing pattern on a highway. Authorities apprehended him on Saturday while he was allegedly performing another stunt in the rental truck.
The Department estimates the resulting street damage at $5,153, and the teen has been booked on felony vandalism, exhibition of speed and reckless driving counts. Officials indicated that the teenager has a history of posting reckless-driving videos around the San Diego area. Ongoing investigations may bring additional charges related to earlier similar events.
