Northern Territory Police are probing a series of disturbances in Ngukurr after a 14-year-old boy was speared in the back on Saturday afternoon. Earlier, police had received multiple calls about a sizable clash between members of two family groups, with some participants allegedly carrying weapons, though no injuries were initially reported. At about 5:35 p.m., a report came in that the teenager had been stabbed in the middle of his back.
He was taken to the local health clinic, spoken to by officers, and then airlifted by CareFlight while remaining in stable condition. Police continue to investigate the circumstances and are coordinating with community elders and local leadership to de-escalate tensions and prevent further violence.
