Teen Charged After Running onto Middle School Football Field and Tackling Player in Tennessee
A 16-year-old girl was arrested on assault and disorderly-conduct charges after she entered a middle-school football game in Tennessee and tackled a player during a post-touchdown scuffle.
In a middle-school football matchup between South Middle School and Cornersville Middle School, a confrontation broke out following a touchdown and extra-point attempt. A 16-year-old girl entered the field and tackled a South player who was part of the altercation. Officials quickly separated the combatants and turned the teenager over to her parents, who were present at the game.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office subsequently charged her with assault and disorderly conduct. In response, Franklin County Schools issued a lifetime ban from all district properties, while the Tennessee Secondary School one outlet Association prohibited her from attending any Cornersville Middle School home or away one outlet events for one year.
