Teen Charged in Double Shooting at Eden Prairie Homecoming Football Game

A St. Louis Park teenager, Adam Abdihakeem Adam, has been arrested and charged with assault and riot after a double shooting at Eden Prairie High School’s homecoming game left two teens injured.

Authorities in Hennepin County have charged 18-year-old Adam Abdihakeem Adam, who lives in St. Louis Park public housing, with two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of second-degree riot while armed, following a double shooting at Eden Prairie High School’s homecoming football game. Surveillance footage captured Adam’s vehicle entering the stadium parking lot, a confrontation involving about ten people, and Adam exiting his car to fire at an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both of whom survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators used a warrant to obtain cellphone location data, confirming Adam’s phone was present at the scene throughout the incident, while excluding other suspects. He abandoned his phone and changed his number after the shooting and is now held on $100,000 bail, with his first court appearance set for Monday. Law enforcement agencies are also forming a regional task force, led by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, to address rising Somali-youth violence in the Twin Cities.
