Teen Charged with Murder After 12-Year-Old Fatally Shot in Sydney Apartment
Isaac Bechara, 18, was charged with murder for the September shooting that killed a 12-year-old boy inside a Norwest apartment.
Authorities have formally charged 18-year-old Isaac Bechara with murder after a 12-year-old boy died from a gunshot to the face and neck in a Norwest apartment on September 21. The child, whose identity is protected, was reportedly handling an illegal gun that accidentally fired, and he succumbed to his injuries three days later at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Police say ten individuals, including the boy’s mother and several other young men, were in the flat at the time, with some leaving after the incident.
The firearm was removed before emergency responders arrived and has yet to be located. Bechara, already detained for concealing a serious indictable offence, was charged at Silverwater Prison and will appear in bail court. Investigators have not secured cooperation from other occupants, leaving the exact circumstances of the shooting unclear, and they have not ruled out additional arrests.
