Teen Charged with Murder After Chicago Train Passenger Fatally Thrown from Red Line

Kyle Bickham, 29, was killed after being shoved onto the tracks of a CTA Red Line train during a fight that broke out on West 69th Street at about 2:30 p.m. Police first suggested he had jumped, but the Cook County medical examiner later classified the death as a homicide. A 15-year-old girl was arrested and faces first-degree murder, aggravated battery of a transit employee, and mob action charges, while no other arrests have been made.

The incident comes as overall CTA crime has fallen 30 % in the first half of the year following heightened patrols. Bickham’s father, Christopher Bickham Sr., and sister, Kayla Bickham, urged the transit authority to reallocate security resources and for bystanders to intervene in emergencies. A GoFundMe set up by the family’s brother has raised nearly $4,200 toward a $6,500 goal.
