Benji Smith quit school at 17 with only a camera and a small cash reserve, launching Elevate Content by offering free photography to build a portfolio. Within a year and a half the business generated six-figure revenue, shifting from still images to video production and social-media packages for real-estate agents throughout the North Island. Smith has partnered with leading Tauranga agencies, created AI-driven solutions for clients, and now spends his time overseeing staff and seeking new opportunities.
At 19, he received mortgage pre-approval and is preparing to place an offer on his first home, a milestone he says many peers only reach in their thirties. He credits long hours and a year-long focus on the venture, and now encourages other young people to consider entrepreneurship over traditional university routes. Harcourts agent Kylee Anderson praised his fresh approach, and Tauranga Boys’ College’s Tom Collin highlighted his entrepreneurial drive during school.
