Officers from the Arcadia Police Department arrived around 11 a.m. after a call about a possible shooting at a home in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive. Inside, they found a teenage girl who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, 20-year-old Paul Anthony Cruz Jr., had forced his way into the house, shot the girl, and then fled.

About an hour later, Pasadena authorities located Cruz with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and transported him to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
