Teen girl killed in Baltimore park shooting over parking spot dispute

A 12-year-old girl was fatally shot and three others wounded during a gunfight sparked by a parking argument at Leon Day Park in Baltimore.

Gunfire erupted at Baltimore's Leon Day Park on Saturday after a dispute over a parking spot, leaving a 12-year-old girl dead and three other people injured. Police identified two shooters, whose weapons left two different cartridges at the scene, and are currently seeking them. The victims include a 25-year-old woman who was with the child and two men, ages 23 and 28, all with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police Commissioner Richard Worley described the shooters as "cowards" and said the argument escalated into a crossfire that claimed the girl's life. Mayor Brandon M. Scott expressed disgust, likening the perpetrators to cowardly men. Coach Mark Brown of the Charm City Buccaneers youth football league noted that the park was hosting a game and that the incident was caused by outsiders, not league members, stressing the league's 29-year record of safety.
