Teen Hospitalized with Head Injury Amid Tours School Blockade, Police Probe Possible LBD Shot

A teenager was admitted to hospital with head wounds during the lycée blockade in Tours, and the prosecutor has referred the case to the IGPN to investigate a potential LBD discharge.

During the ongoing blockade of several lycées in Tours, a young man sustained injuries to his head and was taken to hospital, according to one outlet prosecutor. The exact source of the wound remains unclear, prompting the prosecutor to request an investigation by the Inspection générale de la police nationale (IGPN). Police in Indre-et-Loire are analyzing body-camera recordings and statements from witnesses to determine if a LBD (ball-launching device) was fired.

The prefecture noted that violence against law-enforcement officers has been intense, with six arrests made earlier in the week for projectile attacks, and two of those youths will face a juvenile court in November. Additional clashes were reported on Wednesday, leading to further detentions. A separate incident involving a trash fire near the lycée Paul-Louis-Courier caused a gas leak, forcing the school's evacuation and the establishment of a 150-meter security zone.
