Teen Hospitalized with Head Wound Amid Tours School Blockade, Police Probe LBD Shot
A young man was hospitalized with head injuries during the lycée blockade in Tours, and prosecutors have asked the IGPN to investigate a possible LBD projectile.
During the ongoing blockade of several lycées in Tours, a teenager suffered head wounds and was taken to hospital on Wednesday. Prosecutor Catherine Sorita-Minard announced that the origin of the injury is still unknown and that the Inspection générale de la police nationale (IGPN) has been seized for an investigation. Authorities plan to conduct a CT scan and a forensic examination later in the day while police examine body-camera recordings and testimonies to determine if a LBD (lanceur de balles de défense) was used.
The prefecture of Indre-et-Loire described the violence in Tours as unusually intense, noting that six individuals were previously detained for throwing projectiles at police, with two slated to appear before a juvenile judge in November. Additional arrests were made on Wednesday as the unrest continued. A separate incident involving a trash-fire near the Paul-Louis-Courier lycée caused a gas leak, leading to the school's evacuation and the establishment of a 150-meter safety perimeter.
