Teen in Lucknow kills mother after dispute over gender-affirming surgery
A 17-year-old in Lucknow fatally struck his mother with an iron wrench after she opposed his planned gender-affirming operation, then reported the crime to police.
In Lucknow’s Rajendra Nagar district, a 17-year-old who identifies as female allegedly murdered his 42-year-old mother after a heated disagreement over his desire for gender-affirming surgery. The confrontation occurred at Vision Apartment near the Rajendra Nagar crossing, within the jurisdiction of Naka Hindola police station. According to police, the mother tried to dissuade him, recommending medical and psychological counseling, prompting the teen to strike her with an iron wrench, inflicting fatal head trauma.
The teenager later informed police of the incident and was taken into custody for questioning. Senior officers and a forensic team secured the scene, retrieved the suspected weapon, and sent the victim’s body for autopsy. SHO Vivek Kumar Chaudhary indicated the minor may be experiencing gender dysphoria, and experts will be consulted as the investigation proceeds.
