Teen sentenced to youth detention for stabbing teacher after homework request
The boy, who had earlier denied an attempted-murder charge, was convicted of wounding with intent and of carrying a kitchen knife on school grounds. He entered Ms Williams’ classroom on February 5, locked the door, and attacked her with a large knife, causing a scalp wound and minor injuries. After a struggle the teacher disarmed him, and the student fled but was later caught at a relative’s home. The court imposed a four-and-a-half-year youth-detention sentence.
In February, a 15-year-old student walked into Vicki Williams’ history class at Milford Haven Comprehensive School, asked her to review his homework, then shut the door claiming it was cold. He produced a large kitchen knife from his bag and struck her in the head, also inflicting scratches and minor cuts. A violent struggle followed, during which Ms Williams managed to seize the weapon while shouting for help.
The boy escaped the building but was later apprehended at a family member’s residence. He had previously pleaded not guilty to attempted murder but was found guilty of wounding with intent and of possessing a kitchen knife on school premises. Swansea Crown Court sentenced him to four and a half years in youth detention, noting the attack could have been fatal.
