Teen shot dead inside East New York store as community mourns

A 17-year-old was fatally shot in the head inside a Brooklyn business on Wednesday evening, and a 35-year-old man was lightly injured.

Authorities reported that Ahmir Jordan, a 17-year-old, was struck in the head by gunfire inside a commercial premises on New Lots Avenue in East New York on Wednesday night. Emergency services rushed him to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital-Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A second victim, a 35-year-old man, was grazed on the right arm and is being treated in stable condition.

Witnesses described hearing shots and seeing two young men fleeing the scene. An older woman was observed crying behind police tape, and community members gathered nearby to play gospel music in tribute. The NYPD has not made any arrests and the case remains under active investigation.
