Teen skateboarders lead Japan to eight golds at Nagoya Asian Games

Fifteen-year-old Mizuho Hasegawa and Izuru Nagahara won the skateboarding park titles as Japan secured eight gold medals at the Asian Games in Nagoya.

At the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, 15-year-old Mizuho Hasegawa won the women's skateboarding park event with a score of 94.03, and her compatriot Izuru Nagahara captured the men's title, narrowly beating Taiwan's Ku Yong-yan. Japan also earned its first women's heptathlon gold through Yuri Tanaka and a pole-vault record by Misaki Morota, who cleared 4.55 metres. Gymnast Aiko Sugihara added a second gold in floor exercise, while the men's foil team defeated Hong Kong and Kodai Nishiono won the 200-metre backstroke. With these achievements, Japan's gold tally rose to 28, trailing only China.
