Teenage girl gives birth in Gurugram after alleged Instagram-facilitated rape

A 15-year-old from Gurugram gave birth at a hospital in Sohna after reporting intense abdominal pain, leading doctors to reveal an unexpected pregnancy. The girl and her parents had not observed any physical signs, as the gestation showed few outward changes. Investigators say she had befriended a 22-year-old man on Instagram roughly eighteen months earlier, who repeatedly met her and eventually sexually assaulted her; she kept silent out of fear.

After the suspect stopped contacting her, she left home on August 1, was later found ill, and taken to the hospital. Police recorded statements, registered an FIR under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, and traced the suspect to Nuh, announcing his imminent arrest. Both mother and infant are stable, and with parental consent the child will be placed with an adoption NGO after legal procedures.
