Teenager killed in crash near Highgate School as driver arrested for careless driving
A 16-year-old girl died after being struck by a car outside Highgate School in Hornsey, and the 68-year-old driver was taken into custody on suspicion of death by careless driving.
At approximately 8 am on North Road close to Highgate School in Hornsey, a 16-year-old girl was struck by a car and died at the scene despite the swift response of paramedics, an advanced paramedic team, and London's Air Ambulance. The 68-year-old driver sustained no injuries and stayed at the scene, after which he was arrested on suspicion of death by careless driving and placed in custody. Metropolitan Police established a cordon around the site, which remained in place into the afternoon.
The victim’s family has been notified and is being assisted by officers with specialist training. Authorities have appealed for witnesses to contact police, referencing case number CAD1525/24Sept.
