Teenagers assault wheelchair-bound shop owner and vandalise Kreuzberg store
A 67-year-old wheelchair-using shopkeeper in Berlin's Kreuzberg district was repeatedly attacked and his storefront damaged by a group of youths.
Police were alerted on a Friday evening after a 67-year-old wheelchair-bound proprietor of a mixed-goods shop in Kreuzberg reported multiple assaults. According to witnesses, up to six teenagers first sprayed him with pepper spray and verbally abused him, then left when he shouted for help. Shortly after, the same group returned, sprayed him again, and struck him, causing facial pain.
Additional witnesses observed up to eight youths on e-scooters battering the shop's front door with fists and feet, leaving it damaged. Berlin's State Security Service is now investigating the attacks for dangerous bodily injury, insult and vandalism, though no suspect descriptions have been released.
