Telangana Home Guard Arrested and Fired After Video Shows Station Assault
A Telangana police home guard was taken into custody and removed from service after a video surfaced of him assaulting a woman outside Hafeezpet Railway Station in Hyderabad.
A video that went viral on social media showed a Telangana police home guard assaulting a woman and pulling her hair outside Hafeezpet Railway Station in Hyderabad. The guard, identified as Anand, was on deputation to the railway police when the incident occurred around 10 pm on Friday. Cyberabad police commissioner M Ramesh announced that the guard would be produced before a local court for judicial remand, and the Miyapur police registered a case under sections 74 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Bystanders reportedly stepped in and demanded the woman be released; police said the victim was a ragpicker who had allegedly insulted the guard. Secunderabad Central Railway confirmed the guard’s deployment and that he was returned to the state police for disciplinary measures. DGP C V Anand publicly denounced the behavior, stating that no rank or provocation justifies such conduct, and ordered the guard’s removal from service. Following these directives, Vikarabad district Superintendent of Police Sneha Mehra officially dismissed Anand from the force.
