Telekom Srbija Aims to Turn Serbia into Regional Content Hub for Global Audiences
Telekom Srbija’s chief content officer Aleksandra Martinović says the company will expand Serbia’s production base into a regional powerhouse and push its shows to international markets.
In an interview from Belgrade, Aleksandra Martinović, Telekom Srbija’s chief multimedia and content officer, presented a roadmap to elevate Serbia’s film and TV sector from a national leader to a regional export engine. Building on a decade that produced more than 300 titles and over 180 scripted drama seasons, the company is concentrating on fewer but internationally-oriented projects, exemplified by the multinational crime series “Scar” and the Montenegro-co-produced romance “Crosscurrents.”
Its flagship spy series “Civil Servant” has secured distribution deals with Disney+ Hotstar, Globoplay, Telemundo and FlixLatino. Parallel to content creation, Telekom Srbija is expanding its MOVE platform, described as a “regional Balkan Netflix,” and has acquired Firefly Studios to provide in-house production infrastructure. Martinović emphasized that despite Serbia’s small size, the firm’s ability to sell content to major global platforms demonstrates the country’s growing creative clout.
Why it matters
The plan could boost Serbia’s media exports and create jobs by linking local talent with global distributors.
