Ten detained after small powerboat lands Albanian migrants at Cornwall harbour
Police arrested ten people, including two Albanian nationals, after a powerboat with migrants docked at Mylor Harbour in Cornwall.
At approximately 3 am, reports emerged of a powerboat arriving at Mylor Harbour on the Cornwall coast and disembarking several migrants who then entered a van. Devon and Cornwall Police responded, arresting ten individuals, including two Albanian nationals suspected of immigration offences. The HM Coastguard deployed resources and a Falmouth inshore lifeboat was on standby around 4 am.
One person believed to be under 18 was handed over to social services. A Home Office spokesperson described the event as an isolated and rare occurrence and confirmed the arrests. Ongoing investigations have been transferred to Criminal and Financial Investigations Wales and South West.
