Ten police officers killed in clash with armed rebels in northern Nigeria

A gunfight in Kebbi state's Sakaba council area left ten Nigerian police officers dead, with two civilians and seventeen rebels also killed.

Security forces engaged heavily armed rebels on motorcycles near the Zamfara border, resulting in the deaths of ten police officers. Police spokesperson Bashir Usman reported that two civilians were also killed and seventeen insurgents died in the encounter. Two additional officers were wounded and are receiving treatment. The incident occurred in a remote part of the north that has been plagued by armed gang activity.
