Tennessee Resident Charged in Federal Arson Case Targeting Florida Historic Bank
A 28-year-old man from Dixon, Tennessee, has been indicted on federal charges for a politically motivated arson attack on the historic Exchange Bank building in Florida.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida announced Thursday that Ian Nathaniel Grice, a 28-year-old from Dixon, Tennessee, has been federally indicted for a politically motivated arson. Court filings state Grice traveled to Florida and ignited the historic Exchange Bank building on Jan. 14, 2024. The indictment charges him with arson and with interstate travel in aid of a racketeering enterprise, offenses that could carry up to 20 years and five years in prison respectively.
The case will be heard by U.S. District Court Judge Mark E. Walker in Tallahassee, with a jury trial scheduled for September. Assistant United States Attorney Eric W. Welch is prosecuting, and the investigation involved the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, FBI, ATF, Tallahassee Police, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Florida Department of Financial Services, and the Division of Investigative and Forensic Services. The probe falls under the National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 initiative, a White House-directed program that unites federal, state, and local agencies to address politically motivated violence.
