Teremoana Teremoana stops DeAndre Savage in round two, Zerafa wins eighth-round TKO

Teremoana Teremoana knocked out DeAndre Savage in the second round at The Star on the Gold Coast, while Michael Zerafa earned an eighth-round TKO over Alejandro Ortiz.

At The Star on the Gold Coast, Teremoana Teremoana secured a second-round knockout of DeAndre Savage, delivering a crushing right that forced the American to take a knee and decline to rise. The 6'6" Olympian, who has never gone beyond two rounds as a professional, headlined the event, which was shown on one outlet across Australia. In the middleweight co-main, Michael Zerafa, now representing Eddie Hearn's Matchroom, rebounded with an eighth-round technical knockout of Alejandro Ortiz after a bout that many had expected to be competitive.

Zerafa's performance may set up a future clash with Tony Harrison. Additional results from the night included Jasmine Parr's unanimous decision win over Jemma Peart, Jack Bowen's seventh-round TKO of Mielifeier Dalielibieke, and Omar El-Abdallah's third-round TKO of Jordan Towns. Teremoana and his promoter suggested his next fight could land on the undercard of the yet-to-be-announced Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury mega-fight.

Why it matters

The knockouts highlight rising stars in Australian boxing and set up future high-profile matchups.
