Tesla confirms European launch of its Semi truck with 342-mile range

Tesla revealed its European-spec Semi electric truck at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Hannover, with plans to begin customer deliveries in 2027. The model boasts a maximum range of 342 miles and an energy use of approximately 0.62 miles per kilowatt-hour, positioning it ahead of recently announced BYD electric trucks. Powered by three independent rear-axle motors delivering a combined 1,073 bhp, the Semi can charge at up to 800 kW, recouping 60% of its range—about 205 miles—in half an hour using Tesla’s Megacharger system.

A dedicated Megacharger network for Europe is planned, though its scope remains unclear. The truck’s curb weight is under 9,100 kg with a gross combination weight of 40 tonnes, and it includes a 25 kW electric power-take-off. Tesla highlights lower electricity costs versus diesel and reduced maintenance through remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates, but final pricing and certification details are still pending.
