Tesla postpones second-generation Roadster unveiling to October 15 because of severe weather

Tesla announced that the outdoor unveiling of its second-generation Roadster, originally set for October 1 in Waco, Texas, will now take place on October 15 after severe weather was predicted. In a post on X, the firm explained that local forecasts and the necessity of an open-air venue forced the change. The upcoming presentation is expected to highlight the car’s new design and its integration of SpaceX cold-gas thrusters intended to give it limited flight ability.

The Roadster’s rollout has been delayed repeatedly, with Elon Musk once proposing an April Fools’ Day event for deniability. First shown in 2017 alongside the Semi, the model was marketed as a ground-up supercar with a base price near $200,000 and a limited “Founders Series” at $250,000, but its production timeline remains vague. Critics continue to question the feasibility of the flying-car claim, and Musk has indicated that even after the reveal, it could be a year or more before manufacturing begins.
