Tesla schedules October 1 reveal for long-delayed second-gen Roadster

Tesla used its X account on Saturday to signal that the second-generation Roadster will be officially presented on October 1, displaying a simple “Go for launch” note and a “10.01” graphic. The visual also suggests the car may offer optional cold-gas thrusters, a propulsion system pioneered by SpaceX. The Roadster, originally announced in November 2017, has been delayed repeatedly and, according to a recent report by The Information, the initial design has been scrapped in favor of a new, unrevealed model.

The rollout has attracted public attention, including a social-media exchange last year between Elon Musk and OpenAI chief Sam Altman regarding a $50,000 reservation fee and a claimed refund. Musk has reiterated that even after the October unveiling, mass production is not expected for another 12 to 18 months.
