Texas Attorney General Secures 7 Million Free Eggs for State Food Banks

Ken Paxton disclosed that Texas food banks will receive a total of over 7 million eggs thanks to antitrust settlements with Cal-Maine Foods, Centrum/Versova and Hickman's Egg Ranch. The settlements, reached in June, resolve allegations brought by the Department of Justice and other state attorneys general and include a combined payment of $3.3 million to the states involved. To date, more than 1.7 million eggs have been delivered, with an additional 5.3 million scheduled for distribution in the next few weeks.

Paxton emphasized that the donation provides immediate relief to families struggling to afford basic groceries. While the egg producers denied wrongdoing, they agreed to the terms without admitting liability. The initiative reflects a broader effort by the Texas Attorney General's office to lower food prices and support vulnerable residents.
