Texas families receive LGBTQ+ resource flyers amid questions over their origin
A pamphlet offering guidance to LGBTQ+ youth was mailed to households across Texas, but the organization credited with the material denies involvement.
A printed LGBTQ+ Student Resource Guide was distributed to Texas families, outlining steps for questioning youth to locate supportive adults, pursue emancipation, and access gender-affirming care, including travel options. The brochure advertises a "Trans Texas Takeover" road tour with stops in cities such as Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, directing readers to Transtexas.org. The envelope bears a Meadows Place address that appears unassociated with any registered entity.
The Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT) has publicly stated that it neither authored nor approved the pamphlet, labeling it an impersonation after a recent text-message campaign used similar branding. TENT reaffirmed its commitment to trans youth despite the unauthorized distribution. The incident raises concerns about the provenance of the materials and the potential for misleading outreach to vulnerable minors.
Why it matters
Parents and LGBTQ+ youth need to know whether the guidance they receive comes from legitimate, accountable sources.
