Texas schedules lethal injection for a second inmate convicted of 2005 triple murder

Ker'Sean Ramey, 41, is slated for lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville, marking the second execution linked to the 2005 triple homicide in Edna, Texas. A jury had found him guilty of capital murder after he and LeJames Norman entered the home seeking cocaine that was never found, then shot the three occupants—Samuel Roberts, 24; Tiffani Peacock, 18; and Celso Lopez, 38. Norman was executed on September 16, also in Huntsville, after pleading guilty and testifying that both men fired the fatal shots.

Ramey's attorneys filed a final appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, contending that no physical evidence ties him to the crime and that jurors were not informed of his abusive childhood and poverty. Prosecutors maintain that the case lacks any merit for reconsideration. If carried out, Ramey will be the sixth person executed in Texas this year, with three more executions scheduled.
