Texas Senate Candidate Sets Up LLC with Tax Specialist Amid Book Deal

Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico formed an LLC managed by Austin accountant Eric Pierre, a known adviser for wealthy tax avoidance, shortly after launching his campaign and signing a HarperCollins book contract.

James Talarico, a Texas Democrat campaigning for the U.S. Senate, created Nine Banded LLC on Sept. 16, 2025, designating Eric Pierre of Pierre Accounting as its registered agent. Pierre's firm advertises advanced tax planning for affluent individuals, positioning him as a facilitator of tax reduction strategies. Talarico signed a book deal with HarperCollins in March, which includes advances and royalties that could be routed through the newly formed LLC. Although his financial disclosure lists the company as having no value and being inactive, the arrangement may allow him to apply pass-through or S-corporation tax benefits similar to those used by other politicians.

This development appears at odds with Talarico's campaign rhetoric, which advocates higher taxes on billionaires and large corporations. Neither Talarico nor Pierre responded to comment requests.
