Texas Senate hopeful heads to Hollywood fundraiser as GOP convenes in Dallas

Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico is traveling to Los Angeles for a high-priced fundraiser on Sept. 10, hosted by "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof and his wife Heidi in Brentwood, with tickets ranging from $500 to $13,500. This follows a June event at producer Peter Chernin’s home, and campaign finance data show roughly 50 % of his first-quarter donations originated from non-Texan donors. Meanwhile, Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton will be in Dallas for the Republican National Committee’s midterm convention, accompanied by Donald Trump and other GOP figures, as Barack Obama headlines a Democratic House fundraiser in New York the same night.

GOP spokesperson Zach Kraft mocked Talarico’s California fundraising, and Republican Sen. John Kennedy urged Trump to provide cash support for Paxton. Despite the attacks, a July Fox poll gave Talarico a narrow lead over Paxton, keeping the Texas Senate race highly competitive.
