TfL launches consultations on major London bus route cuts and redesigns

Transport for London has opened public consultations on proposals that could withdraw, extend or reshape several bus routes, affecting thousands of riders.

Transport for London has started a new round of public consultations outlining extensive changes to the capital’s bus network. The 415 route could be withdrawn as the 333 is extended onto New Kent Road, creating direct links between Old Kent Road and Stockwell, Streatham and Tooting. The C3 would be discontinued, with one outlet taking over its path but losing the Putney-Earl’s Court segment and extending to Clapham Junction, while service frequencies on one outlet and 430 would be increased.

In the Isle of Dogs, declining demand would lead to the removal of the D7 and a reshaping of the 135, 277 and D6, with the SL4 rerouted to serve the new Wood Wharf development. The 149 would be rerouted to provide a direct Wood Green-London Bridge service, retaining most connections of the 67, which would be withdrawn. Additional adjustments include the 42 terminating south of Tower Bridge with higher morning and evening frequencies, and the 254 being withdrawn as the 106 extends to Aldgate bus station, accompanied by frequency increases on the 106 and 253. The proposals remain open for public comment.
