TG Jones closes two high-street stores today as part of October shutdown plan

TG Jones is closing its Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire and Marlborough, Wiltshire branches today, adding to a High Court-approved plan to shut 23 stores in October.

TG Jones announced the immediate shutdown of its Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire and Marlborough, Wiltshire stores, bringing the total number of closures this month to 23. The high-street chain, with roughly 450 UK locations, is cutting 150 stores overall after earlier warnings that it could become insolvent without a restructuring plan. A company spokesperson expressed regret for staff and communities, while pledging assistance for those impacted.

Customers will also lose the West Wickham, Stratford-upon-Avon and Ormskirk branches early next week. The High Court approved the restructuring in early July, enabling the closures. TG Jones was renamed after Modella Capital bought the high-street arm from WH Smith, which retained its travel-focused outlets.
