Thai investigators link 15 cyanide deaths to a single female suspect
Police have connected fifteen mysterious poisonings across several provinces to Sararat “Aem” Rangsiwuthaporn, who is accused of using cyanide.
A series of unexplained deaths of seemingly healthy people across Thailand, dating back to 2015, were eventually tied to Sararat “Aem” Rangsiwuthaporn after Kantima “Pla” Paesaard survived a near-fatal episode and identified cyanide symptoms. Victims were often participants in rotating savings groups or borrowers of money that Aem had facilitated, and many died suddenly with no obvious cause. Independent investigator Rapee Chamnanrua highlighted inconsistencies, prompting deputy police chief Surachate Hakparn to examine financial records and surveillance footage, which showed Aem’s presence at several crime scenes.
Forensic analysis by Smith Srisont and Sahaphume Srisuma confirmed cyanide poisoning, a substance difficult to detect and lethal in minute amounts. Police uncovered cyanide bottles ordered through a delivery service to Aem’s vehicle, solidifying the case against her.
