Thai King Rama X and Queen Suthida set to visit Vietnam on state invitation

King Maha Vajiralongkorn, known as Rama X, and Queen Suthida will embark on a state visit to Vietnam after being invited by Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife. The visit comes after the two countries elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in May 2025 and signed an action program covering 2026-2031. Thailand is Vietnam's largest trading partner within ASEAN, with bilateral trade amounting to US$22.1 billion in 2025, a 9% increase from the previous year, and continuing growth in the first seven months of 2026.

Thai businesses have 813 active projects in Vietnam, representing over US$15.4 billion in registered capital, placing Thailand eighth among all foreign investors and second among ASEAN sources. Tourism is robust, with more than 660,300 Vietnamese visitors to Thailand in 2025 and nearly 458,000 Thai travelers to Vietnam. Additionally, around 100,000 Vietnamese reside in Thailand, and between 2,000 and 3,000 are studying or conducting research there.
