Thar SUV crashes through Bhopal colony gate, damages cars and scares women, children

At about 9.30 pm on Tuesday, a Thar SUV barreled into the Soumya Fortune Heritage residential complex in Misrod, Bhopal, striking multiple parked cars and then crashing through the closed Gate 2 despite guards’ attempts to stop it. The driver allegedly steered the vehicle toward women and children walking inside the colony, causing them to flee without injury, while a guard who jumped into a drain sustained minor wounds.

Around a dozen cars and SUVs were damaged, and the SUV also hit a stray animal before fleeing the scene. Police recorded an FIR after resident Kamal Singh Solanki complained, and are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the driver, noting the vehicle is registered to an Obedullaganj owner who says it was lent to someone else. About 150 residents gathered at the police station demanding action, and investigators have charged the incident under rash and negligent driving statutes.
