The Browser Company to retire Arc browser and shift focus to Dia
The Browser Company announced that the Arc browser will be discontinued, with final shutdown on December 22 and users urged to migrate to its new Dia browser.
The Browser Company disclosed a phased shutdown of its Arc web browser, starting with the immediate halt of new account registrations. Mobile AI tools such as Browse for Me will be disabled on November 23, and users will lose the ability to sign in or sync tabs on iOS and Android. The ultimate termination on December 22 will render Arc unusable on macOS and Windows, deactivate all existing accounts, and pull Arc Search for Android from the Play Store.
The firm encourages current Arc users to transfer their data to Dia, the AI-centric browser it launched last year and now supports with its entire security team. No new features will be added to Arc, and all development resources have been redirected to Dia. An FAQ on the Arc site outlines the migration steps for interested users.
Why it matters
Arc's closure signals the company's full pivot to its AI-driven Dia browser, affecting existing users and the web-browser market.
