Thiel warns of socialist takeover and plans exile to Argentina

Peter Thiel warned that a Democratic Socialist takeover would threaten America and said he has already relocated to Argentina.

Peter Thiel, co-founder of Palantir, told the MD Meets podcast in Berlin that he doubts a Republican can win the 2028 White House and that the greater danger is a Democratic Socialist takeover of the Democratic Party, which he called the end of America. He compared a possible left-wing surge to Trump’s 2016 disruption of the Republican establishment and warned that policies such as packing the Supreme Court, imposing wealth taxes, nationalizing industry and abolishing the Electoral College could become mainstream.

Thiel, who has already moved to Buenos Aires and enrolled his children in local schools, cited a 2020 IRS leak that exposed his massive Roth IRA, which Democrats tried to curtail during the Build Back Better debate. He argued that a socialist victory in 2028 would extend such attacks to all wealthy Americans and could lead to prosecutions, nationalizations of firms like SpaceX, and broader lawfare. The billionaire concluded that the best outcome might be a divided government while AI continues its development.

Why it matters

Thiel’s warnings highlight concerns about a potential left-wing shift in U.S. politics and its impact on wealth, business and governance.
