Thieves hijack PlusAI-Nvidia trailers loaded with 20,000-pound sand loads
Two PlusAI trailers bearing Nvidia branding were stolen from a warehouse in Fremont, California, but were recovered later with their sand cargo intact.
On Thursday morning, a PlusAI executive received a text about two of the company's trucks appearing near his workplace, prompting a police response. The vehicles in question were trailers displaying PlusAI and Nvidia branding, which had been secured with hand locks at a Fremont warehouse but were broken and driven away. Inside each trailer was roughly 20,000 pounds of sand, used by PlusAI for simulated load testing, and the sand remained untouched when the trailers were recovered later that afternoon.
The truck cabs stayed inside the warehouse and were not stolen. Fremont Police Department spokesperson Amy Gee confirmed the case remains under investigation with no arrests. The incident occurs amid a broader rise in thefts of high-value technology cargo, including chips, Tesla batteries, and bitcoin mining equipment.
