Thieves steal 30,000 premium wine bottles valued at €5 million from Antinori

Around 30,000 bottles of high-end Antinori wine worth roughly €5 million were taken from a Tuscan storage site in a coordinated robbery.

A group of at least seven masked men carried out a sophisticated theft at Marchesi Antinori’s storage facility in Tuscany, stealing about 30,000 bottles of its flagship wines, including Tignanello, Solaia and Guado al Tasso. The thieves reportedly turned off alarms, blocked cameras and used the winery’s own forklifts to load two large trucks, removing wine valued at approximately €5 million. The crime was only uncovered on Monday when staff arrived, and CEO Renzo Cotarella called it the biggest wine robbery ever recorded in Italy.

He expressed confidence that the extensive network of road cameras could aid in tracking the stolen goods. No suspects have been detained so far, and the incident adds to a series of recent wine thefts across the country, such as those reported in Piedmont. Antinori, a family-owned producer founded in 1385, exports to 170 nations and posted €263 million in revenue last year.
