Thieves Use Tow Truck to Steal $300,000 Corvette from Santa Clarita Home

Surveillance video shows a tow truck entering a Santa Clarita driveway shortly after 3:50 a.m. and hauling away a 2026 Corvette C8 ZR1 wrapped in orange with blue-rimmed wheels, a vehicle the owner valued at $300,000. Mario Jaramillo, a 57-year-old lawyer, learned of the theft only after noticing the car missing and later filed a report with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station around 9:30 a.m. The vehicle’s GPS system was reportedly disconnected following the robbery.

Jaramillo, who had added custom lighting and audio upgrades, said the car was fully paid off and not repossessed. His wife, Laurel Jaramillo, described the theft as a repo-style operation that took less than a minute. The investigation continues, but the owner believes the car has likely been shipped abroad.
