Third batch of October Social Security checks to be mailed in four days
The Social Security Administration will send the third October payment round to retirees in four days, covering those born on or after the 21st of each month.
The Social Security Administration announced that the third distribution of October benefits will be issued in four days, reaching retirees born on or after the 21st of each month. Earlier rounds covered those born on or before the 10th (disbursed on Oct. 14) and those born between the 11th and 20th (sent the previous Wednesday). The maximum monthly benefit is $5,181, available to beneficiaries who retire at age 70, while younger retirees receive lower amounts, with a floor of $2,969 for those retiring at 62.
Eligibility for benefits starts at age 62, and the exact payment can be estimated using the SSA’s online calculator. Funding comes from payroll taxes paid by workers and employers, and trustees warn that the trust fund could be depleted by 2032 without legislative action.
Why it matters
Retirees need to know when their Social Security check will arrive to manage finances and plan for potential shortfalls.
