Third consecutive Russian drone strike hits Kyiv, injuring one and sparking fires
A Russian drone attack on Kyiv on the night of Sept. 26-27 marked the third day of strikes, injuring a woman and causing fires in two districts.
On the night of Sept. 26-27, Russian drones launched their third back-to-back assault on Kyiv, prompting the city’s air-defence units to engage. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a drone struck an unoccupied residential building, setting it ablaze before firefighters extinguished the flames. A separate drone fell in an open space in the Solomianskyi district, where the resulting shockwave shattered windows and damaged the façade of a five-storey apartment block, while also igniting a warehouse fire.
The State Emergency Service confirmed that a woman sustained injuries and was handed over to medics. These attacks continue a pattern that started on Sept. 24, during which five people had already been reported injured in daytime strikes.
Why it matters
The attacks show the ongoing vulnerability of Kyiv to drone strikes and the strain on civilian infrastructure.
