Thousands march in London to back pro-life movement amid clashes with pro-choice activists

Thousands gathered at Parliament Square on Saturday for the annual March For Life UK rally, drawing unprecedented episcopal support and confronting pro-choice demonstrators.

On Saturday, the March For Life UK rally began at Emmanuel Centre and proceeded to Parliament Square, featuring a family summit aimed at young adults aged 18 to 35. Organisers demanded tighter abortion legislation and criticized the 150-metre buffer zones around clinics where abortions are performed. The march attracted a record number of bishops—fifteen, compared with seven the year before—signalling strong Catholic endorsement.

Pro-choice activists later used megaphones to chant hostile slogans and even interrupted a gospel performance, creating tense moments. Attendees such as Mária and Lukáš from Hull praised the event’s lively spirit and sense of solidarity. The gathering reflects a broader UK debate on abortion policy and related issues like assisted dying legislation currently under parliamentary consideration.
