Thousands rally in Nikaia and Keratsini to honor slain anti-fascist musician

On Friday, thousands marched through Nikaia and Keratsini, the districts where anti-fascist musician Pavlos Fysas was murdered, to repeat the refrain “Don’t be afraid.” The rally brought together his parents, legal teams handling the Golden Dawn criminal case, victims of past attacks, trade unionists, and left-wing parties. Organizers emphasized that only a united popular movement can defeat fascism, especially after the release of Golden Dawn’s former leader Ilias Kasidiaris, who vows a political comeback.

The route passed the Kokkinia block and ended in Nikaia, where participants laid flowers, sang, and held up banners reading “No step back.” Speakers included victims’ relatives, members of PASOK, ELAS, KKE, New Left and MERA25, and critics of the media’s uneven coverage. The gathering also highlighted broader concerns about right-wing rhetoric in government policies toward migrants.
