Thousands rally nationwide against Donald Trump, urging voter turnout ahead of congressional elections
Thousands of Americans marched across the U.S. under the “No Kings” banner to protest President Donald Trump and call for early voting.
On Saturday, thousands of protesters gathered in cities from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles, Seattle and South Portland under the “No Kings” slogan, demanding respect for civil liberties and criticizing President Donald Trump’s policies. Demonstrations featured a papier-mâché Trump figure, a Batman-costumed marcher, and chants urging early voting near landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial. In several locations, activists highlighted opposition to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and called for its shutdown.
Organizers stressed the importance of registering voters and participating in the forthcoming congressional races, which will decide control of the House and part of the Senate. While turnout varied, the movement’s focus remained on mobilizing voters rather than solely protesting the administration.
Why it matters
The protests aim to boost voter participation in a pivotal congressional election that could shift congressional control.
